Presbytery de Cristo entered a time of transition upon
the retirement of its Executive Presbyter, the Rev.
Lee Sankey
and the tenure of its Interim Presbytery Executive, the
Rev. Lynne M. Myers in 2006.
Phase I of
the transition began in 2007 by Presbytery Council
approving the formation of two task Forces: The Task
Force on the Future and the Task Force on Meetings. The
latter Task Force recommended changes in Presbytery
Meetings. That portion of its work was approved by
Council in November, 2007. Both Task Forces submitted
their final reports and recommendations to the
Presbytery at a Special Called Meeting on
February 9, 2008. The following are the
reports and recommendations that were approved by
Presbytery.
The Presbytery continued its
Phase II
transition work during 2008 and 2009 by the formation of
two groups whose work includes the “nuts and bolts” of
the approved big picture vision work done by the Task
Forces whose work was done in 2007 and approved in 2008.
Those groups are: The Funds Development Task Force and
the Transition Team. The names of those who serve in
these groups and the work they are charged with
completing follow. In addition, the Executive Presbyter
Nominating Committee was activated to search for a new
Presbytery Pastor/Stated Clerk. The EPNC meets monthly
and the names of those persons are also listed in this
section.
The Presbytery transition will
continue during
Phase III, 2009 and 2010
as it lives into a new committee structure, a
different vision for mission and with new ideas for
funds development, as well as looking forward to
welcoming a Presbytery Pastor/Stated Clerk.
