A Presbytery of the PC(USA)

Presbytery Staff

Sue Westfall
Presbytery Pastor & Stated Clerk

Sue WestfallSue Westfall grew up in Yuma, Colorado, a rural community in the high plains of northeast Colorado, one of five children whose father was a Presbyterian pastor and whose mother is a saint.  From that early experience Sue developed a preference for big skies, a capacity to navigate complex relational systems, a deep respect for pastors and an enduring fondness for saints.

Sue was educated in Yuma’s finest (ok, also the only) high school, Sterling College (a Presbyterian -related liberal arts school) and (sticking with the Presbyterian theme) Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div) and San Francisco Theological Seminary (DMin.)  She is an on-going student of life and, frankly, still has quite a bit to learn.

Sue’s professional career includes field hand in a corn research station, church janitor (custodian, actually), mental health worker in a private Mennonite Hospital, as well as pastorates in Buffalo, NY, Denver, CO and Tucson, AZ (with a couple of years off living in Mexico raising her two infant sons).

Sue comes to de Cristo after serving three years as Associate Executive for Ministry in the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta where she gained a deep love and appreciation of southerners if not the south itself because, as she puts it, “It does not have enough sky.”   (Shout out to Greater Atlanta which is not your average presbytery!!!!)

Among her passions are vistas, hiking to vistas, camping near vistas, music (eclectic tastes include opera and country western), wilderness, reading, knitting (she does far more un-knitting than knitting but nonetheless will often show up places with knitting needles and a ball of yarn), baseball (Go Diamondbacks), football (Go…), sunsets, sunrises, running, yoga, sharing a meal, worship and liturgy, her three mostly grown children (and young people in general), politics, contemplative prayer and trying to follow Jesus.

Even without the other passions, just trying to follow Jesus makes every day quite a good adventure!!!!

Deborah Bouchard

Treasurer

Deborah BouchardI am a native of Tucson.  I graduated from Rincon High School in 1971 and went directly into the work force.  I worked for a bank for 5 years and a law firm for 22 years before starting my own accounting business in 1997.  I attended The University of Phoenix in the evening and graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Business with an emphasis on accounting on 7/31/1998.  I took the CPA exam in November of 1998 and passed on the first try.  Only about 10% pass this test the first time.  I have served as Treasurer for the American Business Women’s Association in 2001, the Trojan Band Boosters Club in 2003 (Catalina High School when my daughter was in the band), and Business Networking International South Tucson chapter in 2003.

I play the violin and am a member of the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra and the St. Andrew’s Orchestra.  I was elected Second Vice President of SASO in May of 2003 and President in 2006 and am currently serving as President.  The orchestra will be touring China in December.  I married in September of 2004 and my husband Frank has been asked to serve on session next year.  I have a daughter who is currently in her final year at The University of Arizona Eller College and just received a highest academic distinction award for having a 4.0 for over 30 units last year.

I was drawn to St. Andrew’s when I played in the orchestra during the dedication of the new sanctuary and was baptized and became a member in March 2007. I am currently head of the ushers and after the session approves, I will become a member of the Worship and Music committee.   I am humbled to be considered for the position of Treasurer of the Presbytery de Cristo.
